Safe use

Read this manual before use. Keep it and pass it on with the appliance. For indoor household use only, on materials suitable for water and the selected treatment.

Users and surroundings

  • For adults who understand the instructions. People with reduced capabilities or limited experience need supervision or instruction on safe use and the hazards.
  • Keep children and pets away, including while cooling. This is not a toy; children must not clean or maintain it. Keep film, bags, cable and hose out of reach: risk of suffocation and strangulation.
  • Do not use when tired or under the influence of alcohol or medication.

Electricity

  • Use a suitable earthed socket, not a multiway adaptor. Any extension cable must be earthed and rated for 2100 W. Unwind the cable; keep away from heat, sharp edges and pinch points. Do not run over it.
  • Do not use wet hands. Pull the plug, not the cable. Keep the socket accessible.

UNPLUG

After use and before filling, emptying, changing attachments, cleaning or maintenance. Let hot parts cool. Before a thunderstorm, unplug as a precaution against voltage surges.

Steam, water and damage

PREVENT SCALDS

Water and steam can reach 100 °C. Never direct at people, animals or plants. Point the head away from you and downwards. Do not touch hot heads or freshly steamed surfaces.

  • Do not direct water or steam at electrical parts, sockets, switches, lamps, heating elements or appliances. Do not steam inside an oven.
  • Do not immerse, hold under a tap or use outdoors, in rain or near a filled bath or pool. If dropped in water: unplug and stop using. Never leave the Velora unattended while plugged in.
  • Stop if the cable, plug or hose is damaged, after a fall, or if there are leaks or unusual behaviour. Do not open, modify or repair the Velora yourself. Have a damaged cable replaced by the manufacturer, service provider or a qualified person.
  • If there is smoke, a burning smell, unusual noise or a power failure: switch off, unplug and contact service. Use again only after inspection. Never use water on a fire; use an extinguisher suitable for electrical equipment.

Ventilation and temperature

Keep all vents clear, including underneath. Do not place on deep-pile carpet. Keep away from heat sources and naked flames. Use at 0-35 °C and no more than 80% humidity. After cold transport, leave at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Prevent damage

Never vacuum up

  • Dry dust, powder, sand, stones or rubbish; sharp objects such as glass, needles or pins; plastic bags, stockings or other loose objects.
  • Burning, glowing or flammable substances such as ash, cigarettes, petrol or solvents. No oil, hot air, hazardous or infectious substances, pesticides, hair dye, lubricants or other chemicals.

During use

  • Use with tanks correctly fitted and water in the clean-water tank. Empty the dirty-water tank at MAX or if suction stops. Stop if foam, escaping dirty water or a blockage occurs; resolve the cause first.
  • Keep the Velora upright. Do not tilt with full tanks, sit or stand on it, or place objects on it. Lift by the carry handle. You may gently pull it along by the hose, without jerking. Never lift by the hose, kink it or step on it.
  • Use original Dymac parts. Take care on slippery wet floors and stairs.

Materials and liquids

Follow care labels. Test a hidden area and assess after drying. Do not use on artworks or unsuitable delicate materials. Check the restrictions for each attachment.

Clean-water tank: cold tap water only. Detergent tank: Dymac detergent or water; preferably water when steaming (p. 11). Descaling solution is allowed in the clean-water tank only during descaling (p. 22).

Stain guide

The basic method is on p. 14. Only stain-specific differences follow. Cold/hot/steam always means the mode with vacuum.

Coffee, tea

Cold; dried-on stains: hot. Repeat until water is clear.

Wine, juice, soft drinks

Treat fresh stains cold; old stains hot. No salt or white wine.

Blood, milk, vomit, egg

Cold only. Heat sets protein.

Pet urine

Vacuum first without spraying. Clean cold with little water. Repeat carefully and vacuum thoroughly afterwards. Do not soak the fabric.

Grease, oil, sauce, butter

Hot or steam. Repeat if needed; no washing-up liquid on the stain.

Chocolate, ice cream

Cold first for the milk, then hot for the fat.

Mud, soil

Remove dry dirt with a standard dry vacuum cleaner. Then use cold water + vacuum on the stain.

Make-up

Hot; allow brief contact and repeat if needed.

Ink, ballpoint, felt-tip pen

Cold; often only partly removable. Do not heat.

Sweat/odour in mattresses

Steam only if the material tolerates it. Ventilate; use only when the filling is also fully dry.

Chewing gum, candle wax

First without the Velora: freeze and break off gum; let wax harden and scrape off. Then treat greasy residue hot.

02 Hold the handle with 12 over a sink or bucket. Select hot water + vacuum (preferred; wait for a steady light) or cold water + vacuum. Hold the trigger. Water flushes through and is drawn back into the dirty-water tank. Stop when the water runs out or PROTECTION activates.

03 Switch off, unplug and let cool. Empty and rinse the dirty-water tank and filter. Rinse the heads; open the flap on the stain brush. Let everything dry.

Housing: slightly damp cloth, no water on the panel or abrasive cleaners. Cloths: wash at 40 °C, no fabric softener or tumble dryer.

Store upright, dry and frost-free, away from sunlight and children. Store cable and hose in their holders. Long-term storage: empty clean-water tank; detergent may remain. Transport with empty tanks.
